Single Storey Rear Extension & Loft Conversion in Sheffield (Nether Edge)
< Back to Residential Projects overview
The client required a single storey rear extension with plenty of glazing overlooking the gardens. We designed a large extension similar to an orangery with a glazed atrium. This included a family room with extended luxury kitchen with breakfast bar and island. The property is an attractive detached Georgian house with a lot of character and it was paramount the design was sensitive to the surroundings with the design proposals.
The rear extension has been accepted as Permitted Development so required no planning permission and the drawings have been submitted for Building Regulations approval.
The second phase of the project is a loft conversion to provide an en-suite bedroom. The loft conversion required planning consent due to the fact that the property is in a Conservation area so this was submitted for planning approval in January 2011. Planning consent was received by Sheffield City Council during the first week of March 2011 with no onerous conditions.
Building regulations approval has now been received for the rear extension and are now in a position to progress on site. The rear extension is to be progressed on site during the summer 2011.
